Hi guys.

I'm on V7. When I ran INZTAP I couldn't find *ULTRIUM3 listed under density parameter. It is in IBM document but not in the command.

All that's listed when F4 are:

Type . . . . . . . . . . . . . :   CHARACTER
Tape density . . . . . . . . . . > *CTGTYPE

*DEVTYPE                             *FMT3570
*CTGTYPE                             *FMT3570E
*QIC120                              *FMT3590
10000                                1600
*QIC525                              3200
16000                                6250
*QIC1000                             *FMT2GB
*QIC2GB                              43200
*QIC3040                             *FMT5GB
*QIC5010                             *FMT7GB
*FMT3480                             *ULTRIUM4
38000                                *ULTRIUM5
*FMT3490E

The device is a 3580-005. I need to initialize a ULTRIUM3 tape with 400GB capacity.

Any help?

Thanks!

ULTRIUM3 is what you're looking for.

No, that would just return "'ULTRIUM3 ' not valid for parameter DENSITY".

I believe that you can read, but not write, to a cartridge that, as in this case, is two generations back.

Cheers,

Emmanuel

Thanks Emmanuel. Confirmed. I checked, even on SAV commands it is only allowed two generations back. Thanks again.
